Tanegashima Astronomy

Tanegashima is great for star gazing. Anyone from the city would be amazed at the number of stars you can see on a cloudless Tanegashima night. I found this site (link below) called Your Sky which generates star maps for any location on the planet. I made star maps specifically for the island. The star maps show the Tanegashima night sky as it appears in real time. The page does need to be refreshed for an updated sky map. The three maps, beginner, intermediate, and advanced, get progressively more detailed to give the observer a chance to slowly get used to the sky at this latitude and longitude.

The following settings were used to make the beginner star map. The beginner map includes about 20 stars of magnitude 1.5 and brighter. To make your own customizable beginner star map for Tanegashima, click here.
